Nora L. Chan, M.D. joined the full time faculty of the Department of Neuroscience at Winthrop-University Hospital in August 2011 as Director of the Movement Disorders Program. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School in 1996, Dr. Chan went on to complete her undergraduate studies at Cornell University where she double majored in neurobiology and psychology, and graduated summa cum laude and with distinction in all subjects. Dr. Chan completed her medical doctorate at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York in 2005 after completing an additional year in basic neuroscience research. She completed her internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida and her neurology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York under the tutelage of Dr. Warren Olanow. She went on to complete a two year clinical fellowship in Movement Disorders at the University of California, Los Angeles under the guidance of Dr. Jeff Bronstein. Dr. Chan’s primary area of interest is in Parkinson’s Disease and she has been involved in various clinical trials and observational studies. She has published in peer reviewed journals and presented posters at various international meetings. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Movement Disorders Society.
