Departments : Clinical : Clinical Trial Studies

The Winthrop Hospital Clinical Trials Center (CTC) was established in 2001 to provide our patients and the surrounding community with the most advanced treatment options. The CTC provides the medical staff at Winthrop-University Hospital the support services necessary to enhance the quality and effectiveness of their research efforts.

The CTC provides a single point of contact to sponsors for contracts, budgets, and regulatory and patient-recruitment issues. A database of active investigators is available to match investigators with sponsored projects.

The CTC consists of physician investigators and their research staffs conducting industry sponsored studies within the departments and divisions of Winthrop-University Hospital and the Center's dedicated research office.

CTC investigators have many years of experience working with major pharmaceutical and biotech companies and clinical research organizations. Dedicated certified clinical research coordinators are available to conduct studies at the Clinical Trials Center, private practice offices, and the clinical divisions of the Hospital.

All personnel conducting clinical trials have been expertly trained to follow strict federal guidelines and internal standard operating procedures that govern the investigation of test articles.

The CTC utilizes Western IRB for FDA regulated outpatient clinical trials and the Winthrop-University Hospital IRB for both in and outpatient trials.

The CTC provides a location and resources for investigators to participate in multi-therapeutic clinical trials in accordance with government and industry standards. Examination rooms, research pharmacy, laboratory, required medical equipment, CRF storage area, high-speed wired and wireless internet, and sufficient office space with monitoring rooms are available for clinical trial operations. The Center is fully staffed with experienced certified clinical research coordinators, laboratory personnel, research pharmacists, and ancillary staff.
