The Wound Healing Center and Hyperbaric Medicine Program at Winthrop-University Hospital applies an interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of non-healing wounds. As a major regional research and teaching hospital, Winthrop has the wound healing resources and support available to patients in order to obtain the most comprehensive treatment plans, including the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions that may be associated with chronic wounds.
The Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory
Accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories, this fully equipped facility provides an extensive menu of vascular screening services and the advanced technology to diagnose and assess circulatory problems.
Integral to the management of patients with vascular disorders, vascular radiologists perform specialized studies that clearly define the anatomic extent of vascular disease so that more accurate therapeutic decisions can be made.
Diabetes Education Center
Founded in 1979 as the first diabetes education program in New York State to be accredited by the American Diabetes Association, the Center provides the knowledge, skills and tools people living with diabetes need to manage their chronic condition successfully and avoid many associated complications.
Home Health Agency
Winthrop's award-winning Home Healthcare Agency serves as a liaison between patient, family and physician. They coordinate the provision of skilled nursing, rehabilitation, as well as medical and social services. They also arrange for home health aides, medical supplies and equipment, and intravenous therapy services.
Hyperbaric Medicine Program
Always at the forefront of innovative and effective medical treatments, Winthrop-University Hospital has added hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as an extension to the wound healing therapies available to patients.
