NYU Winthrop Hospital’s Trauma Center is an adult Level 1 Center and is Nassau County’s only trauma center with full adult and pediatric capabilities.
Our Trauma Center, which includes three trauma resuscitation bays and two critical care beds, is fully equipped to respond to the highest level of critical injuries with its special facilities, advanced technology and expert personnel who are available in-house, 24/7.
As a Level 1 Center, we provide the highest level of trauma care, and can handle the most critical emergencies that may be beyond the capabilities of emergency departments at other local hospitals. The mission of our trauma center is to ensure continuity and quality of care for injured patients from the scene of injury, through treatment at the trauma center and ultimately, physical rehabilitation.
Our highly-skilled team includes trauma-trained doctors and surgeons with a wide range of specialties in orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology, internal medicine and critical care.
NYU Winthrop’s Trauma Center offers comprehensive trauma care for treating a variety of injuries that include:

A Regional Trauma Center With Level 1 ACS Verification
As a Level 1 Center, we specialize in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of all forms of trauma injury, with the expertise, technology and infrastructure to treat them in the best way possible. We also partner with community hospitals to help expedite transfer of patients with severe injuries who would benefit from being in a Level 1 trauma center.
New, Expanded Trauma Center
This state-of-the-art, 7,500-square-foot facility has trauma bays equipped with leading-edge monitoring, imaging and life support technologies and provide NYU Winthrop’s dedicated Trauma team with the highly specialized facilities they need. The new edition frees up Emergency Department space, a benefit for all of NYU Winthrop’s patients and staff.
