The Sports Medicine program combines orthopedic diagnoses, treatment, and rehabilitation for a wide range of sports injuries that enables patients to get back to their sport safely and quickly.

The NYU Winthrop Sports Medicine program is known for its expertise in evaluating, diagnosing and providing comprehensive care for injuries sustained by young sports participants, as well as middle-aged and elderly recreational athletes. The Sports Medicine team of board certified physicians supports a variety of sports programs on Long Island including the Long Island Rough Riders, Adelphi University, and various local high schools.
Surgical specialties related to sports include reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, elbow, and knee, such as rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilization, elbow "Tommy John" surgery and ACL reconstruction. There is also a strong focus on rehabilitation and preventing future sports injuries.

Sports Medicine Program Gives Back to the Community with Student Athlete Scholarships
For the past three years, NYU Winthrop Hospital's Sports Medicine Program has provided athletic trainers for local high school teams, building relationships and helping to prevent and heal injury among students in the process. Recently, administrators of the program found a new way to give back by creating a scholar-athlete scholarship for exceptional students with an interest in the field of healthcare.
