Winthrop-University Hospital is a New York State Department of Health-designated Stroke Center, New York State-designated Regional Trauma Center, and a New York State Regional Perinatal Center (RPC), a prestigious designation that recognizes the Hospital's ability to deliver the highest level of obstetrical and perinatal care. In addition, Winthrop's Department of Pediatrics is a member of the esteemed National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI).

Winthrop University Hospital is certified by the New York State Department of Health and accredited by The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO).
