Brief Resume

After receiving his MD from SUNY Downstate Medical Center,Dr. Corapi completed a residency and fellowship in General Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Dr. Corapi joined the faculty at Winthrop in 1986 as Chief ,Division of Internal Medicine,where he directed the expansion of the Division from two to its current 12 full time faculty.He has developed multiple residency program courses in perioperative medicine ,behavioral medicine,and ambulatory primary care.
Dr. Corapi has directed multiple medical school courses at Winthrop,collaborated on the development of a standardized patient medical interviewing student program,and is a past winner of the Stony Brook School of Medicine Aesculapius Award for outstanding teaching..
Dr.Corapi is a past officer and President of NYSIG APDIM.
Dr. Corapi has led multiple Hospital task forces, including major projects on patient flow and practice management.

Description of Research Interests/Activities

Dr. Corapi has authored multiple publications as well as a course syllabus in perioperative medicine.
He has collaborated on a model IM curriculum template for New York IM residency programs and has written extensive curriculum documents for the IM residency program and its conversion to an on line format.
Dr. Corapi has prepared extensive Hospital task force reports on patient flow and on practice management.
He has authored and presented multiple faculty development programs for the Department of Medicine
