The Pediatric Bowel Management Program

NYU Winthrop Hospital offers a comprehensive bowel management program for children, adolescents and young adults who suffer from fecal incontinence. The program works by periodically cleansing the colon of stool to enable patients to maintain a clean colon for the following 24 hours during which patients can enjoy normal daily activities without the worry of stool accidents.

The Pediatric Bowel Management program at NYU Winthrop was created to help patients who have fecal incontinence due to a variety of causes including:

  • Imperforate anus
  • Hirschsprung’s disease
  • Spinal defects
  • Severe constipation without known cause (idiopathic constipation)

In addition to providing medical services, the Pediatric Bowel Management Program at NYU Winthrop provides concierge service to help families with airline reservations, ground transportation, hotel arrangements and entertainment in the greater metropolitan New York area.
