Evening of Tasting and Giving Raises Funds for Pediatric Patients

Winthrop supporters and staff join with the Magro Family at the
Foundation’s Eighth Annual Evening of Tasting and Giving. The
Michael Magro Foundation is committed to serving the emotional
and quality-of-life needs of pediatric cancer patients and their families.
Dedicated to easing the burdens of
children with serious illnesses and their
families, the Michael Magro Foundation
continues to demonstrate its tireless
commitment to Winthrop-University
Hospital and its pediatric patients. The
Foundation recently raised $66,000 at
its Eighth Annual Evening of Tasting and
Giving at the Woodlands in Woodbury
on October 2, 2012. The funds benefit
multiple pediatric areas at Winthrop.
The annual Evening of Tasting and
Giving features gourmet food and fine
wine donated and served by a variety of
Long Island businesses. The funds
raised at the event enable the Michael
Magro Foundation to continue its
support of Winthrop and its young
patients and their families. This year’s
event highlighted the Child Life
Program at Winthrop.
Established by the Magro family in
honor of Michael Magro, who passed
away in July 2004 after a courageous
battle with leukemia, the Michael
Magro Foundation assists children who
are undergoing medical treatment and
their families. The Foundation’s longtime
support has benefitted countless
individuals at Winthrop.
