In the spirit of giving, friends and supporters of
Winthrop-University Hospital gathered for the
Yuletide Ball, an elegant evening that featured
a traditional Christmas sit-down dinner and
dancing to benefit the Hospital’s Child Life
Program. The 2012 Yuletide Ball, graciously
hosted by Liz and Jim Golden in their beautiful
Garden City home on December 8,
2012, was a remarkable success,
raising over $200,000.
“We are so grateful for the generosity shown
by the community to support Winthrop’s
Child Life Program,” said Mrs. Golden, who
along with her husband, Jim, also served as
Co-Chairs of the 2012 Yuletide Ball Committee.
“It was an honor to be a part of it.”
Over the years, Winthrop’s Yuletide Ball has raised
over two million dollars in support of the Hospital’s Child Life
Program, which is dedicated to helping children understand
and cope with the hospital experience. Certified Child Life
Specialists utilize therapeutic play, arts and crafts, entertainment
and other diversions to ensure that the hospital experience is as
stress-free as possible for children and their families. A vital program across the full
spectrum of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services at Winthrop, Child Life is
supported in its entirety by philanthropic contributions.
“The Annual Yuletide Ball provides essential funding for the Pediatric Child Life
Program,” said Warren
Rosenfeld, MD, Chairman
of Pediatrics at Winthrop.
“Funds raised from this event
are vital to the continued
success of the program.”
