Astoria Federal Savings Shows Support for Winthrops Child Life Program

Pictured during the check presentation in the Child Life Playroom in Winthrops Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center is Astoria Federal Savings Garden City Branch Manager Patricia Donnelly (second from right) with (l.-r.) Warren Rosenfeld, MD, Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Winthrop; Nicole Almeida, MS, CCLS, Director of the Child Life Program at Winthrop; patient Sean-Michael Smith; and Lynn Drucker, Director of Development at Winthrop.
Hospitalization can be a very frightening experience for a child of any age. Thats where Winthrops Child Life Program can make all the difference. Thanks to a $5,000 grant from Astoria Federal Savings, children at Winthrop, from toddlers to teens, can continue to benefit from this remarkable program that promotes effective coping through play, preparation, education and self-expression activities.

Since 2005, Astoria Federal Savings has been a champion for Winthrop, supporting various Hospital programs and services throughout our institution, said Lynn Drucker, Director of Development at Winthrop. We are most appreciative of their recent grant to support our Child Life Program, which impacts the lives of countless pediatric patients each year.
