Ralph and Mary Ann Napolitano (second from left, right), founders of Jay’s World Childhood Cancer Foundation Inc., present a generous donation to Mark Weinblatt, MD, Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Winthrop and Director of the CCFK, and Linda Sweeney, Pediatric Development Manager for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and the CCFK at Winthrop.
The holidays were extra special at Winthrop’s Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK) thanks to the generosity of Jay’s World Childhood Cancer Foundation Inc. The Foundation, established in 1994 by Ralph and Mary Ann Napolitano to celebrate their son Jason’s (“Jay”) successful leukemia treatment, is committed to helping children in their fight against pediatric cancer. Their latest gift of $10,000, earmarked for CCFK programs and services, is a continuation of a partnership that has enriched programs and services and helped provide advanced technology in the CCFK. In addition, the Foundation funded the construction of the Jay’s World Cancer Unit in Winthrop’s Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center, thanks to their donations totaling nearly $600,000 to date.
“Countless patients and families at Winthrop and at the Cancer Center for Kids have benefited from the generosity of Jay’s World Childhood Cancer Foundation Inc.,” said Linda Sweeney, Pediatric Development Manager for Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology and the CCFK at Winthrop.
