Pediatric patients at Winthrop’s Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center have more new toys and electronics to play with thanks to a generous donation by The Brendan & Liam Shanahan Foundation – a charitable organization established to honor the lives and memories of Brendan Brian and Liam Patrick Shanahan. The Foundation donated two new flat screen televisions, two Sony PlayStation 3’s, a digital camera and flip cam, and loads of DVDs, video games and toys for young patients being treated at the Hospital to play with.
Recently, The Brendan & Liam Shanahan Foundation visited the Child Life Activity Center in Winthrop’s Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center to make a generous donation to the Hospital and its young patients. Pictured at the donation are (back row, left to right) Wantagh residents Mike and Jen Shanahan, Founders of The Brendan & Liam Shanahan Foundation with their son, Tyler, and twins Dylan and Gabriella (seated, front), and Nicole Almeida, MS, CCLS, Director of the Child Life Program at Winthrop.
The Brendan & Liam Shanahan Foundation was established by Mike and Jen Shanahan of Wantagh, NY, to help families, both financially and emotionally, that have children with special medical needs. The Foundation is committed to raising awareness about Alpers’ disease – a rare, genetically determined disease of the brain that causes progressive degeneration of grey matter in the cerebrum – and to secure funding for much needed research on this devastating disease.
