Winthrop Receives High Marks for Cardiac Care
Winthrop-University Hospital has been recognized by the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Get with the Guidelines ProgramSM (GWTG) once again, with a prestigious award for providing superior coronary care to patients.
The American Heart Association has announced that Winthrop has earned the GWTG Gold Achievement Award for its continued success in providing superior care to heart failure patients.
The recognition signifies that Winthrop has reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients at an 85 percent performance level for at least 24 months based on core standard levels of care, as outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.
GWTG is a premier hospital-based quality improvement program through which the AHA helps hospitals ensure that patients consistently receive cardiac care services in accordance with the most up-to-date scientific guidelines and recommendations. Awards recognize a program’s level of compliance with core measures over a set period of time.
Winthrop’s coronary care program has a history in achieving prestigious designations through the AHA GWTG Program – receiving Bronze Awards (six months) and Silver Awards (12 months) for continued excellence in patient care.
