New Members Elected to Winthrop’s Board of Directors
Winthrop-University Hospital’s Board of Directors has always been a leading force behind the continuous growth and expansion of the Hospital’s high quality, innovative healthcare services. Recently, two new members were elected to serve on this devoted corps of community leaders and business professionals.
Christopher J. Cavallaro
Christopher J. Cavallaro, RPLU (Registered Professional Liability Underwriter), Managing Director of ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC, has vast experience in Management Liability and Professional Liability. In 1986, Mr. Cavallaro co-founded ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC. The company is now the largest independent wholesale broker specializing in Management Liability and Professional Liability products.
A leader in the industry, Mr. Cavallaro frequently lectures on topics related to liability and risk management and has published several articles on the subject.
Prior to co-founding his business, Mr. Cavallaro served as the Senior Vice President at American International Group of both the Management Liability and Professional Liability products written by National Union Fire Insurance Company.
Mr. Cavallaro graduated cum laude from Queens College with a degree in Economics and Finance and is a Past President of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. A resident of New Hyde Park, Mr. Cavallaro and his wife, Linda, have two children.
Thomas E. Sullivan
With his vast experience in investment planning, Thomas E. Sullivan, Managing Director of Investments at Merrill Lynch, is a welcome addition to Winthrop’s Board of Directors. Mr. Sullivan began his career at Merrill Lynch in 1976 and is the senior partner of the Sullivan Group in Garden City – an elite group of investors who assist a diverse group of clients with investment planning, estate and wealth transfer planning strategies.
With over 30 years of experience in managing individually customized investment portfolios, Mr. Sullivan has appeared on Barron’s list of the Top 100 Financial Advisors in New York State on multiple occasions, and has received the Merrill Lynch Circle of Champions Award – an award presented to the top one percent of Financial Advisors worldwide.
An active member of the community, Mr. Sullivan currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Long Island Caddy Scholarship Fund and is a Nassau County Little League Sponsor. A past president of the Long Island Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Mr. Sullivan received the National Chairman’s Citation from the Leukemia Society of America in 1992. Mr. Sullivan has also served as an Executive Board Director of the Garden City Centennial Soccer League and the Garden City Athletic Association.
Mr. Sullivan graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. A resident of Garden City, Mr. Sullivan and his wife, Barbara, have four children.
