Jay's World Childhood Cancer
Foundation Inc., established in 1994
by Ralph and Mary Ann Napolitano to
celebrate their son Jason's ("Jay") successful
leukemia treatment, is committed to
children and their fight against pediatric
cancer. Their latest gift of $10,000, earmarked
for Winthrop's Cancer Center
for Kids' (CCFK) programs and services,
underscores a partnership that has
enriched programs and services
and helped provide advanced
technology in the CCFK and
construction of the Jay's World
Cancer Unit in Winthrop's
Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient
Center, thanks to their donations
totaling close to $600,000
to date.

Ralph and Mary Ann Napolitano (left, second from

Foundation Inc., visited Winthrop's Cancer Center
for Kids (CCFK) to present their generous donation
to Mark Weinblatt, MD, Chief of the Division of
Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Winthrop and
Director of the CCFK, and Linda Sweeney, Practice
Manager of the CCFK.
In 2004, Jay's World
Childhood Cancer Foundation
funded the 15,000 sq. ft. Jay's
World Children's Cancer Unit
at Winthrop's Hagedorn
Pediatric Inpatient Center -
a pediatric oncology unit specially
dedicated to caring for
children with cancer. The Unit
consists of five uniquely
appointed rooms with sophisticated
air filtration systems, sleeping
accommodations for parents and
other family-focused amenities. The
Foundation also underwrote the complete
blood count (CBC) Laboratory
and the Practice Manager's office at the
CCFK's expanded outpatient facility,
along with a state-of-the-art Blood Lab
Machine, laptop computers, essential
medical equipment and scholarships
for children who have or have had cancer
and are planning to attend college.
"We are truly appreciative of Jay's
World Childhood Cancer Foundation's
ongoing support which has deeply
enhanced the resources and offerings at
the Cancer Center for Kids for the
benefit of countless patients and their
families," said Linda Sweeney, Practice
Manager of the CCFK.
The Napolitanos were recently
recognized for their foresight, leadership
and dedication to volunteerism at
the 9th Annual Long Island Volunteer
Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
