Winthrop-University Hospital recently received more than $41,000 from the Carleigh McCormack Memorial Fund, created
by Heather and Jim McCormack in memory of their daughter. The donation included more than $4,000 raised by students
at Nassau Community College (NCC) through their annual 5K Fun Run in
honor of Carleigh’s grandfather, retired NCC economics professor Neil
Nugent, and approximately $37,000 raised by the McCormack family at
their 2009 Golf Outing.
The Carleigh McCormack Memorial Fund supports pediatric cardiology
services at Winthrop, including the Carleigh McCormack Pediatric
Cardiopulmonary Lab. A sophisticated exercise physiology resource, the
Lab is equipped with modern exercise equipment and advanced monitoring
technology to offer a range of non-invasive testing options and provide
important insight into the functioning of a child’s heart and lungs.
