Bayville Family & Friends Host Annual Celebration of Life
The Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK) at Winthrop-University Hospital felt the
warm embrace of the Ryan-Lovegrove family of Bayville and 750 friends and
guests at a special summertime event that celebrated the life and survivorship
of 12-year-old Bailey Ryan. Bailey is a former patient of the CCFK who is
now cancer- and treatment-free. Each year, his parents Michael Ryan and
Alice Lovegrove-Ryan host a Celebration of Life in Bailey’s honor called “Bay’s
Big Bash.” This year’s party raised $60,000 to benefit the Hospital’s pediatric
oncology/hematology program.
“We see this party as an inspiration for other families,” said Ms. Lovegrove-
Ryan. “We will be forever grateful to Winthrop’s Cancer Center for Kids and this
is the best way that we could thank them.”
Enjoying the festivities at Bay’s Big Bash were (l.-r.) Councilwoman for the Town of Oyster
Bay Elizabeth A. Faughnan; Katie Ryan; Bailey Ryan; Mike Ryan (rear); Alice Lovegrove-
Ryan; Lindsey Ryan; Jackie Martling; and Linda Sweeney, Practice Manager of Winthrop’s
Cancer Center for Kids.
