A Magical Evening - 2009 Gala

Almost 700 friends and supporters of Winthrop-University Hospital
gathered to celebrate another year of outstanding accomplishments
at the Hospital’s annual Gala on October 24 at RXR Plaza in
Uniondale. This truly magical evening honored two remarkable individuals
for their years of devoted service to Winthrop – Patrick K.
Long, President and CEO of Formed Plastics, Inc., and the immediate
past Chairman of Winthrop’s
Board of Directors, and Virginia
M. Donovan, MD, Chair of the
Hospital’s Department of
Pathology. The event was a milestone Gala
for Winthrop, raising more than $800,000 in support of the
creation of a world-class research institute at Winthrop.
Winthrop’s annual Gala also celebrates the vast accomplishments of the many dedicated volunteers, benefactors, and corporate partners whose investment in Winthrop demonstrates their deep-rooted commitments to cutting-edge care, state-of-thescience technology and innovative research endeavors. Fine dining, magic and illusion, musical entertainment by The Gerard Carelli Orchestra, and a lively casino helped set the tone for this most magical gathering of friends.
