Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness, a national leader in fitness centers, has partnered with Winthrop-University Hospital to create a state-of-the-art facility blending fitness, wellness and medical services for community residents.
The new 35,000 square-foot fitness center will be complete with top-of-theline fitness equipment; an aquatics center with two pools; a whirlpool and sauna; Xpress Training (trainer-assisted 20-minute workouts); three group exercise studios for classes including Group Power, yoga, Pilates and group cycling; personal training; a women's only fitness area; and a Youth Activity Center for babysitting.
The fitness center will be located in the Winthrop Wellness Pavilion, familiar to area residents as the former Saks Fifth Avenue building, at 1300 Franklin Avenue in Garden City.
Healthtrax is a national leader in the preventive health care field, blending fitness, wellness education, traditional medical services and rehabilitation to improve community members' health - and quality of life. With locations along the East Coast from North Carolina to Massachusetts, the Garden City location will be the first of its kind in New York, and the sixteenth Healthtrax location overall.
Through Winthrop-University Hospital, the Wellness Pavilion will provide a full range of health and wellness services, from physical therapy and cardiac rehabilitation to a comprehensive orthopaedic center that will offer services from joint replacement to sports medicine for adults and children. In addition, the Pavilion will include a health education resource center.
Healthtrax expects to open in late spring, with the remaining services opening their doors soon after.
