On January 4, New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. and leaders from several local labor unions visited Winthrop's Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center to deliver thousands of toys that were collected as part of the Senator's annual "Extend the Holidays" toy drive. The more than 20 heaping commercial laundry bins of goodies will provide a full year's supply of toys and games to be utilized by Winthrop's Child Life Program in caring for young patients throughout the Hospital. The toys were collected through local schools, labor unions and community organizations, and were hand-delivered by Senator Fuschillo after the holidays so young patients can continue to experience the joy of receiving gifts even as the holiday season passes.
