Picturesque blue skies and seasonable temperatures set the stage for Winthrop's 22nd Annual Golf Tournament, held on May 7 at The Creek and Meadow Brook Clubs. With more than 300 participants, the highly anticipated outing generated more than $400,000 for the Hospital's pediatric and adult emergency services.

At the Meadow Brook Club in Jericho, golfers Dick Keller, Tom Finnican, Charles Ruoff and Steve Ruoff came in first place with a low-gross score of 66. In Locust Valley at The Creek, Steve Caronia, Daniel Farren, Brittany Lamberston and Daniel Lamberston were the first-place low gross team with a score of 70. Individual low-gross winners were Steve Ruoff with a score of 69 at the Meadow Brook Club, and John Kernell with a score of 75 at The Creek.

Also at The Creek, Jim Johnson won the Closest to the Pin contest for coming within 10 feet, 10 inches at the 4th hole. Chris Karkota came within 13 feet, 3 inches of the 9th hole at the Meadow Brook Club. Golfers and guests enjoyed a lively awards ceremony and cocktail reception under the tent at the Meadow Brook Club following the outing.
