On April 22, Winthrop Pediatrics hosted
the sixth annual Pediatric Fund for the
Future Swim-a-Thon at the Hofstra
University Swim Center. Participants
enjoyed a fun-filled morning that featured
swim instructions from Total Immersion Swimming, music from the Garden
City High School jazz ensemble, the Central Beat rock and roll band, raffles,
massages, gifts and more. The event attracted approximately 100 participants
and raised $14,000 for the Pediatric Fund for the Future.
"Every year, I am astounded by the overwhelming support and enthusiasm
that is demonstrated by all of those who attend the Swim-a-Thon," explained
Ron Marino, DO, MPH, Associate Chairman and Director of General Pediatrics.
"Parents and children alike truly understand the importance of this fundraiser."
To date, swimmers of all ages have raised more than $92,000 to support
the high-quality comprehensive services that Winthrop provides to thousands
of children each year.
