Winthrop-University Hospital takes seriously its responsibility to the health of patients, family members, visitors and staff. That is why Winthrop is proud to announce that it recently became a smoke-free campus. Now, beyond being smokefree within our buildings, we are smoke-free on all campus properties (with the exception of patients who have doctor's orders that permit them to smoke, who will be accommodated in specially designated areas). With smoking as the nation's leading preventable cause of death, it is our hope that this new policy will positively impact behaviors and help save the lives of those closest to our hearts - and yours.
