John P. Broder, Vice President, Department
of External Affairs and Development (left),
and Daniel P. Walsh, President and CEO (right),
presented a plaque to Sen. Balboni in appreciation
of his ongoing support of the Hospital's initiatives.
Outside Winthrop's newly refurbished
Community Outreach Center, New
York State Senator Michael Balboni
(7th Senate District) was recently
presented a plaque that will
be publicly displayed in the
Center in appreciation of his
ongoing commitment to the
Hospital. Last year, Sen.
Balboni secured a generous
grant to support the exterior
renovation of Winthrop's
Community Outreach Center.
A centrally located
facility at 101 Mineola Boulevard,
the Center regularly hosts free-ofcharge
Winthrop-sponsored support
groups and public health and wellness
programs, ranging from heart
disease diagnostic and treatment
options to diabetes management,
among other topics.
"The Center stands as a vital
resource that benefits area residents
of all ages," explained Sen. Balboni.
"I am pleased to support the renovation
of this important facility that
hosts thousands of our health-conscious
neighbors annually. And, I
remain committed to assisting the
Hospital in providing quality, educational
programs that arm individuals
with the knowledge necessary to make
important health care decisions."
