The Sid Jacobson Jewish Community
Center (SJJCC) has partnered with
Winthrop-University Hospital's
Cancer Center for Kids to provide
family days of recreation and relaxation for families whose lives have
been affected by pediatric cancer.
Sponsored by a grant from
SJJCC's BASICS Fund, the event, held
at the SJJCC, enables the children to
enjoy a normal morning of play and
competition in games of sports and
theatre. Meanwhile, parents are invited to restore their energy in the CPT
Wellness Center with power massages
before teaming up with their children
during a family game show following a
barbeque lunch.
SJJCC's Center for Partners in
Community Care has sought funding
from the New York State Department
of Health to continue to offer the
Family Sunday Program four additional times in the coming year. For more
information about the program, or
about the Cancer Center for Kids, contact (516) 663-9409.
