inthrop's pre-admission testing process just got
a bit more patient-friendly with the opening of its new, modern Pre-Admission Testing Center
at 120 Mineola Boulevard. The Center offers patients a more efficient exam process as well as a comfortable and aesthetic location, providing more convenience and personalized attention prior to elective surgery.
A large patient waiting area, swathed in blues and
soft lights, contains the main reception desk where charts are readied for the meeting with one of the five registrars,
who then take all of a patient's medical information.
Three insurance verifiers are also on staff to help with
any questions pertaining to insurance coverage.
The facility also houses six patient exam rooms equipped with EKGs. One room is specifically designated for handicapped patients, boasting a larger door opening and a hydraulic chair that can move up and down to help accommodate patients in wheelchairs.
A separate X-ray room includes the ability to perform scanograms for total hip replacement surgery patients, allowing them to receive the additional testing in one
location. Another important feature that helps streamline the testing process is a separate reception and waiting
area for patients receiving outpatient lab services.
"In a department that sees 65 to 70 people a day, the new Center provides our patients with more personalized attention in a more welcoming environment," stated Diane Bendelier, RN, Director.
Located at
120 Mineola Blvd., suite 330, the Center also offers
convenient parking on the third floor of the building's own parking garage. The former pre-admission testing site, which was in the basement of the Winthrop Pavilion in the main
hospital, will continue to be utilized for pre-admission scheduling or booking as well as other hospital services.
