n a sunny, warm September afternoon, more than 240 golfers teed off to help support Winthrop-University Hospital's Institute for Heart Care. Winthrop's 17th Annual Golf Tournament, which was rescheduled
from its earlier May 2002 date due to heavy rain, was held at
The Creek Club in Locust Valley and The Meadow Brook Club
in Jericho. The event raised more than $290,000.
Under the leadership of tournament chairman, James Botto of Botto Mechanical Corporation and the sponsorship of more than 120 local businesses including cocktail reception award ceremony sponsor, Jim Giorgio of B&G Electrical Contractors, the event was one of the most successful to date. Charles Murphy of Turner Construction Company will be the Chairman of the 18th Annual Winthrop Golf Tournament, tentatively scheduled for May 12, 2003.
