  • A record 336 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on the links recently in support of Winthrop-University Hospital. Participants teed off at either The Meadow Brook Club in Jericho or The Creek in Locust Valley, two of the area's most picturesque courses. Ralph Lambert, President of Axis Construction, chaired the event. It raised more than $250,000, which will go toward Winthrop's Chaplaincy Endowment Fund. In January, the Fund was used to establish a new Department of Pastoral Care and Education at the Hospital.

The Winthrop Auxilians provided invaluable support to the annual Golf Tournament. Seated, L-R: Peg Musil, Auxiliary Parliamentarian; Father Tom Murphy, Corpus Christi R.C. Church, Mineola; and Dorothy Ingram. Standing, L-R, Frances Sweeney, Auxiliary President; Claudia Galvin, Corresponding Secretary; Judy Soba, immediate Past President; Veronica Renken, Treasurer; and Barbara Seale, Historian.

Golf Tournament Chairman, Ralph Lambert (L) enjoyed a social moment with (L-R) Nora C. Perry, Winthrop's Chief Development Officer; Whitney D. Pidot, Golf Tournament Co-chair, Winthrop Director, Member, Winthrop's Board of Regents; and Daniel P. Walsh, Winthrop's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Raymond J. Furey (C), 1999 Golf Tournament Chairman, accepts a golfing award from this year's Golf Chairman, Ralph Lambert (R) and Daniel P. Walsh (L).

Sharing the limelight at the Tournament's Awards Dinner, Patrick K. Long (R), Winthrop Director and 2000 Golf Committee Member, who is President of Formed Plastics, Inc., reviews the day's golf legends with Messrs. Walsh (L) and Lambert (C ).
