“JOINT REPLACEMENT: A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS”

Seniors suffering from hip and knee issues can learn how they can return to the simple pleasures of an active life at Winthrop-University Hospital’s free “Health Update for Seniors and Their Families” community education program, “Joint Replacement: A Recipe for Success,” on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 1:15 PM. The program will be held at the Mineola Community Center, 155 Washington Avenue in Mineola.

James Capozzi, MD, Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Marie Callari, BSN, RN, Program Coordinator, will explain how Winthrop’s Freedom of Movement Total Joint Replacement Program, including the evaluation process for hip and knee replacements, potential surgical options, preparation class and post-operative care, can help you resume your normal activities sooner than you might expect. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.

Attendees will have the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked after the lecture, at 2:45 PM. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Reservations are required. To reserve your space, please call (516) 663-3916.

“Health Update for Seniors and Their Families” is a free community health education program coordinated by Geriatric Health Services and the Winthrop Home Health Agency. For information on other programs at Winthrop, please call 1-866-WINTHROP.
