WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL NAMES JAMES D. CAPOZZI, MD, CHAIRMAN OF ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY


James D. Capozzi, MD
Mineola, NY – Winthrop-University Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of James D. Capozzi, MD, to the position of Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Capozzi is renowned for his expertise in joint replacement surgery and providing exceptional care to patients suffering with a range of complex orthopaedic conditions.



A Board certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Capozzi joins Winthrop from Mount Sinai Hospital where he served as an Associate Attending Physician in Orthopaedics for more than two decades, and is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.



A resident of East Williston, Dr. Capozzi currently holds several professional leadership positions including serving as Chairman of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Ethics Committee, and Coordinator of Ethics in Practice for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. In addition, Dr. Capozzi serves as a member of the American Orthopaedic Association, the Academic Orthopaedic Society, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.



A graduate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Capozzi completed the Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
