“CONNECTING THE DOTS: SOLVING THE PUZZLE OF DIABETES MANAGEMENT” FREE LECTURE AT WINTHROP
Winthrop-University Hospital’s Perspectives in Health series will offer a free program, “Connecting the Dots: Solving the Puzzle of Diabetes Management” on Thursday, November 6, 2008. The program begins with a products fair at 6:30 PM, followed by the lecture at 7:30. It will be held at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola.
Lucille Hughes, RN, CDE, Diabetes Nurse Educator at Winthrop’s Diabetes Education Center, will explain glucose monitoring technology and what happens in the body when you eat certain foods, exercise, take oral medication, take insulin or have swings in blood glucose levels. Those who attend can learn about this new technology and leave with practical tips and renewed hope if they are discouraged by fluctuations n blood glucose levels. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.
