FREE HEALTH UPDATE FOR SENIORS LECTURE NOVEMBER 12 – “HEART DISEASE: IMPROVING YOUR HEALTH AT ANY AGE!"
Winthrop-University Hospital’s Health Update for Seniors program will present a free lecture, “Heart Disease: Improving Your Health” on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. The program begins with the lecture at 1:15 PM, followed by blood pressure checks at 2:45 PM. It will be held at the Mineola Community Center, 155 Washington Avenue in Mineola.
Research has shown that the risk for heart disease can be minimized at any age. By following certain guidelines, seniors may be able to reduce their risk, as well as improve their well being.
George Gubernikoff, MD, Director of Clinical Cardiac Services and Medical Director of the Center for Aortic Diseases at Winthrop, will discuss the importance of regular exercise, blood pressure control, and diet in maintaining a heart healthy lifestyle, as well as strategies for living with heart disease. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.
