GARDEN CITY RESIDENTS PREPARING FOR WINTHROP’S ANNUAL YULETIDE BALL

Garden City residents (l.-r.) Edward and Terri McNally and Cathy and Hector Murphy at the Winthrop Yuletide Ball kickoff cocktail party on September 26.
Mineola, NY – Winthrop-University Hospital is pleased to announce that Edward and Terri McNally of Garden City will host the annual Yuletide Ball in support of Child Life and Pediatric Services at Winthrop. The festive charitable event will take place on Saturday, December 13 at the McNally’s beautiful Garden City home on Stewart Avenue.

On Friday, September 26, Cathy and Hector Murphy of Garden City hosted a Committee Kick-Off and Cocktail Reception in their Garden City home to commence planning for the 2008 holiday event.

Winthrop’s Yuletide get-together is a popular holiday tradition for Garden City residents, giving community members an opportunity to attend an elegant evening of dining and dancing and to kick off the December holiday season.

Proceeds of the Yuletide Ball benefit Winthrop’s comprehensive Child Life Program, through which specially trained Child Life Specialists help children understand and cope with the stress of hospitalization. The caring and highly trained staff use therapeutic play, arts and crafts, entertainment and other diversions, to ensure that the hospital experience is as stress-free as possible for children and their families. Child Life Specialists are available in Winthrop’s Pediatric Emergency Unit, the Cancer Center for Kids, Pediatric Specialty Center and the Hospital’s Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center.
