WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL’S AUXILIARY RECEIVES 2007 AUXILIARY ADVOCACY RECOGNITION FROM HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK STATE (HANYS)
Mineola, NY - Winthrop-University Hospital’s Auxiliary – a group of dedicated community members committed to supporting the Hospital through various fundraising and advocacy initiatives – has once again been named a recipient of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) annual Auxiliary Advocacy Recognition. This recognition is most prestigious because it identifies auxiliaries from across the state that have excelled in specific areas – such as participating in numerous community outreach initiatives and local advocacy programs throughout the year.
“The Auxiliary takes great pride in the many accomplishments of the Twigs and the Wings of Winthrop,” said Ronnie Renken, President of the Auxiliary and member of the Hospital’s Board of Directors.
Winthrop’s Auxiliary was selected as a recipient of the prestigious 2007 Auxiliary Advocacy Recognition for its dedicated service as an advocate for Winthrop-University Hospital and the community.
“The Auxiliary and the many activities that they sponsor are a vital and cherished part of Winthrop and the communities we serve,” said Daniel P. Walsh, President & CEO of Winthrop-University Hospital.
Further commemorating the dedication of auxiliaries, Governor David A. Paterson has proclaimed May 14, 2008 as Health Care Auxilian Day in New York State.
Founded in 1896, Winthrop-University Hospital was Long Island’s first voluntary not-for-profit Hospital. The Hospital’s Auxiliary was created in 1924 to stimulate the community’s interest in the work of the Hospital. Volunteers with the Winthrop Auxiliary operate the Hospital’s gift shop and host many vital fundraising events each year.
