WINTHROP TO HOST OPEN HOUSE FOR NURSES ON JANUARY 30

Mineola, NY –Winthrop-University Hospital is looking for nurses who are interested in becoming an important part of a team dedicated to improving the lives of patients by providing quality care. Winthrop is known for “Care without compromise” in a “Welcoming and World-class environment.” Nurses interested in joining the Winthrop Team, through one of seven institutes of excellence, are encouraged to attend the Winthrop Open House.



RNs and LPNs are welcome; the event is open to both recent graduates and experienced nursing professionals. Winthrop currently has openings in its Emergency Department / Regional Trauma Center; Medical, Surgical and Cardiothoracic Units, in the Neurosciences ICU, and Homecare. A wide range of positions are available, including Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator, Nurse Supervisor and Nurse Practioner.

Background:

Winthrop-University Hospital is a comprehensive healthcare provided comprised of Institutes for Cancer Care, Digestive Care, Family Care, Heart Care, Lung Care, Neurosciences and Specialty Care. Winthrop is a New York State Department of Health-designated Stroke Center, New York State-designated Regional Trauma Center, and a New York State Regional Perinatal Center (RPC), a prestigious designation that recognizes the Hospital's ability to deliver the highest level of obstetrical and perinatal care. Winthrop University Hospital is certified by the New York State Department of Health and accredited by The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO). In 2006, Winthrop provided inpatient care for 35,722 men, women and children; chronicled over 4,393 births and logged 55,012 emergency visits. More than 3,324 electrophysiology procedures and nearly 5,151 cardiac catheterizations were performed. 19,148 surgical procedures were completed, including 454 open-heart operations. In addition, Winthrop's certified Home Health Agency and its Long Term Homecare Program provided 114,155 visits to community residents.



The Hospital employs approximately 5,000 individuals, including nearly 1,500 nurses with 1,525 full-time and voluntary attending medical staff. Winthrop offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient programs and services for the newborn through the elderly in a dynamic, progressive environment.
