SENATOR FUSCHILLO “EXTENDS THE HOLIDAYS” BY DELIVERING LOADS OF TOYS TO YOUNG PATIENTS AT WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Mineola, NY - On January 4, State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. and leaders from several local labor unions visited Winthrop-University Hospital’s Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center to deliver thousands of toys that were collected as part of the Senator’s annual “Extend the Holidays” toy drive.

The more than 20 heaping commercial laundry bins of goodies will provide a full year’s supply of toys and games to be utilized by Winthrop’s Child Life program in caring for young patients throughout the Hospital. The toys, which were collected through generous donations made by local schools, labor unions and community organizations, were hand-delivered by Senator Fuschillo after the holidays so young patients can continue to experience the joy of receiving gifts as part of the holiday season.
“Each year, Senator Fuschillo’s ‘Extend the Holidays’ toy drive brings a massive amount of toys and puts million dollar smiles on the faces of young patients at Winthrop,” said John P. Broder, Winthrop’s Vice President, External Affairs & Development. “We are always amazed by the outpouring of support from the community, and we thank Senator Fuschillo for continuing this very important tradition.”
