New artwork in Winthrop’s Pediatric Endoscopy Suite, thanks to the Michael Magro Foundation.
The Hicksville-based Michael Magro Foundation recently supported a project that enabled local artists to revamp the walls of the Pediatric Endoscopy Recovery and Procedure Rooms at Winthrop-University Hospital.

The paintings, created by artists Nancy and Sal Moccia, feature doctors in hot air balloons and penguins and dolphins playing in the soothing blue colors of the ocean. They are designed to make endoscopy procedures less stressful for children by giving them happy and peaceful images to focus on. This is the second project of this nature that’s been supported by the Foundation. In 2009, the Foundation funded the creation of a custom sky-scape mural and child-friendly decorations for the rooms.

“Adults and children alike have commented that the experience is soothing, and as a result they are less nervous while recovering,” said Terrie Magro, President of the Michael Magro Foundation.
