WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL’S COMPREHENSIVE EPILEPSY CENTER OFFERS FREE CONFERENCE MAY 22 “EPILEPSY 101”
Winthrop-University Hospital’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center will hold a free educational and support program conference for the community, “Epilepsy 101,” on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 7:00 PM. The program will be held at the Dr. Martin Spatz Conference Center, Room A, located in the basement of the main hospital at 259 First Street in Mineola.
Whether you are newly diagnosed, struggling with seizures, or would like to learn more about “the facts,” please join speakers include David E. Friedman, MD, Director of Epilepsy Monitoring at Winthrop, and Shicong Ye, MD, Medical Director of the EEG Laboratory at Winthrop, for this informative seminar. They will provide an overview of epilepsy and explain the diagnostic process, causes and risk factors for the disease, seizer triggers, patient safety issues, and treatment options. The program will include a question and answer period. Family and friends are welcome.
