“BULLYING: WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW” TOPIC OF FREE LECTURE SPONSORED BY WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL NOVEMBER 9

Attention parents: are you concerned about bullying? Once considered a “normal part of growing up,” reports in the news have shown that bullying can have serious consequences. Please join a discussion that will highlight what you need to know about bullying and how you, as a parent, can help.

Winthrop-University Hospital’s Parenting Today wellness series will offer a free program for the public, “Bullying: What You May Not Know,” on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at

7:00 PM. The program will be held at the Winthrop Wellness Pavilion, location at 1300 Franklin Avenue, Suite ML-5, in Garden City.

Martin Lipschutz, MD, Acting Chairman from the Department of Psychiatry at Winthrop, will discuss bullying – how it starts and its effects, as well as provide helpful information on the warning signs and tips for what parents need to know. A question and answer period will be included.

The program is presented by the Department of Public Affairs in cooperation with the Department of Pediatrics, part of the Children’s Medical Center at Winthrop-University Hospital. For information on other programs at the Hospital, please call 1-866-WINTHROP.
