- Report Finds Women Treated at Top Hospitals Have One-Third Fewer Complications –

A report released today by HealthGrades, the nation’s most trusted, independent source of physician information and hospital quality outcomes, named Winthrop-University Hospital a recipient of both the 2011 HealthGrades Maternity Care Excellence Award and the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award. HealthGrades' report found that women who undergo gynecological surgery at 5-Star rated hospitals experience 35% fewer complications. Winthrop-University Hospital is committed to providing the women of Long Island with the highest possible quality care.

Winthrop-University Hospital is one of only 4 hospitals in New York and the only hospital in Nassau County to be ranked among the top 10% in the nation for both maternity care and gynecological surgery. Further underscoring its outstanding clinical outcomes in women’s health, Winthrop was recognized earlier this year by HealthGrades as a recipient of the 2011 Women’s Health Excellence Award and ranked among the top 5% in the nation for Women’s Health for the second year in a row. Winthrop University Hospital is the only hospital in New York State to simultaneously receive these three prestigious awards from HealthGrades in 2011, reflecting the unmatched standard of care that women receive at Winthrop.
