WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR STUDY TO DETERMINE EFFECT OF VITAMIN D AND CALCIUM IN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN

The Bone Mineral Research Center at Winthrop-University Hospital is recruiting African American women aged 65 and older for a research study of calcium and vitamin D supplements. The purpose of the study is to determine whether vitamin D can decrease bone loss and improve muscle function in African American women.

Qualified participants may receive body mass index calculation (BMI), bone density testing, physical exam, laboratory work including a vitamin D level, vitamin D and calcium supplements and a medical follow up, all at no cost to them.
