WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CLINICAL TRIALS CENTER SEEKING VOLUNTEERS WITH CHRONIC HIVES
Winthrop-University Hospital’s Clinical Trials Center and Luz Sison-Fonacier, MD, Head, Allergy Section of the division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at Winthrop, are seeking volunteers who have been diagnosed with chronic hives for at least six months to participate in a clinical research study of an investigational medication.
Chronic hives is a condition that is described by daily or almost daily raised, itchy areas of the skin, that last for more than six weeks continuously. To be eligible for the study, participants must be 18 to 75 years of age; must have experienced itching and have hives on an almost daily basis for more than six weeks continuously, even though they are using antihistamine treatment; and must have been diagnosed with chronic hives for at least six months. Participants must also be willing and able to complete an electronic study diary twice daily at home for the duration of the study. The diary asks questions about the patient’s hives and itch.
Eligible participants will receive study-related medical examinations, laboratory tests and study medication at no cost while participating in this clinical research study. Compensation may be provided for time and travel.
