Local residents Antonio Carlos of Mineola and Steven Pearl of Massapequa were recently named winners in Mineola Bicycle, Fitness and Mower’s “Mountain Bike Raffle Extravaganza” – a raffle held by the store in support of the Child Life Program at The Children’s Medical Center at Winthrop-University Hospital. Both Mr. Carlos and Mr. Pearl were thrilled to learn that they had won bicycles through the raffle, which received a tremendous response from the local community as well as Hospital visitors and staff.
“For the third consecutive year, Mineola Bicycle, Fitness and Mower has gone above and beyond in its efforts to generously support Winthrop’s Child Life Program,” said Nicole Almeida, MS, CCLS, Director of the Child Life Program at Winthrop. “The store and its entire staff are extremely supportive of our program and we deeply appreciate all that they have done for us.”
Through the purchase of raffle tickets, participants had the opportunity to enter their name into a random drawing to win one of two mountain bicycles generously donated by the store. Proceeds from the raffle support Winthrop’s Child Life Program through which certified child life specialists utilize play and education to improve patients’ understanding of medical procedures, teach relaxation techniques to help the patients cope with illness or surgery, and provide emotional support for the entire family.
