“WHAT’S FOR DINNER? DIABETES MEAL PLANNING” TOPIC OF FREE LECTURE, NOVEMBER 4TH
Winthrop-University Hospital’s Perspectives in Health series and the Diabetes Education Center at Winthrop will offer a free program, “What’s For Dinner? Diabetes Meal Planning” on Thursday, November 4, 2010. The program will begin with a products fair at 6:30 PM, followed by the lecture at 7:30 PM. It will be held at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola.
People often struggle with coming up with new ideas for healthful eating. Lynne Chimon, MS, RD, CDN, CDE, Director of the Diabetes Education Center, and Margaret Marinelli, MS, RD, CDN, CDE, Diabetes Nutrition Specialist, will explain how to prepare healthful, quick meals for your family to enjoy, focussing on the dinner meal. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.
Founded in 1979, the Diabetes Education Center at Winthrop was the first diabetes education program in New York State to be accredited by the American Diabetes Association. The Center provides the knowledge, skills and tools people living with diabetes need to manage their chronic conditions successfully and avoid the many associated complications.
Parking and the entrance are available in the rear of the building. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. To reserve a space, please call (516) 663-8300.
