“WOMEN’S WELLNESS CAFÉ” FREE COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM AT WINTHROP OCTOBER 5TH
Winthrop-University Hospital has announced that it will offer the “Women’s Wellness Café,” an evening dedicated to three health issues of concern to women – Breast Health, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Sleep Disorders – on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The event will be held at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, located at 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola.
The program will address these issues a relaxed atmosphere that will provide women an opportunity to get their questions answered from experts in their respective fields. Monika Zak Aptekar, MS, Genetic Counselor from the Division of Human Genetics, will address Breast Health and explain the importance of genetic counseling and genetic testing for hereditary breast cancer. Leslie D. Cunningham, MD, PhD, Attending Vascular Surgeon from the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, will address the causes, symptoms, and treatment options for DVT. And for those who have problems sleeping, Qanta A. Ahmed, MD, Attending Physician from Winthrop’s Sleep Disorders Center, will discuss the symptoms, diagnostic process and treatment options for common sleep problems.
