Phyllis and Nathan J. Mistretta donated funds to underwrite the purchase of new furnishings for Winthrop’s new Breast Imaging & Diagnostic Center, which includes new furniture in the suite’s waiting area.
Garden City residents Phyllis and Nathan J. Mistretta continue to demonstrate their extraordinary commitment to Winthrop-University Hospital and its patients. Recently, after making a very generous contribution to underwrite the purchase of new furnishings for Winthrop’s new state-of-the-art, fully-digital Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Center, Mr. and Mrs. Mistretta visited the Center to see the fruits of their largess.During their visit, Mr. and Mrs. Mistretta met with Frank A. Monteleone, MD, Chief of the Division of Breast Services at Winthrop; Susanna Fuchs, MD, Director of Breast Imaging at Winthrop; and Linda Fox, practice manager of Winthrop’s Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Center, who accompanied them on a tour of the new facility, located at 120 Mineola Blvd. in Mineola. This is not the first time that the Mistrettas have made a generous contribution to Winthrop. In May 2008, Winthrop celebrated the dedication of the Phyllis & Nathan J. Mistretta Emergency Diagnostic Imaging Center in the Hospital’s Emergency Department in recognition of the family’s unprecedented gift that financed the purchase of a dedicated CT scanner and additional x-ray and digital imaging technology for the fast and accurate diagnoses of emergency room patients. What’s more, in October 2006, Winthrop named its separate emergency cardiac care facility the Mistretta Chest Pain Unit in acknowledgment of a major gift from the Mistretta family. Winthrop’s Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Center is complete with state-of-the-art, fully-digital mammography and ultrasound equipment, which provide unprecedented image quality along with rapid results, often while patients wait. The Breast Imaging Center is also equipped with comfortable, private changing areas and offers extended evening and weekend hours as well as free on-site parking to best serve patients’ needs. This contemporary suite combines the latest in breast imaging and diagnostic equipment with the expertise and compassion of a team of Winthrop specialists who provide women with the best possible care.
