FREE PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING AT WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
In recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Winthrop-University Hospital is pleased to announce that it will hold a free Prostate Cancer Screening on Tuesday, September 28th, between 5:00 and 8:00 PM at the Winthrop Wellness Pavilion, 1300 Franklin Avenue in Garden City. The screening will be held in collaboration with the “Know Your Stats” campaign sponsored by the American Urological Association (AUL) and the National Football League (NFL). The AUA has teamed with the NFL to encourage all men over the age of 40 to talk with their doctors about prostate cancer, their PSA score and getting regular physical exams. Winthrop’s screening will include a PSA (blood test) and digital rectal examination (DRE). Evidence from research studies suggests that combining both tests improves the overall rate of prostate cancer detection. Participants should not have had a PSA this year. Appointments are required as space is limited. To schedule an appointment, please call (516) 663-8301 between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. For information on other programs at the Hospital, please call 1-866-WINTHROP.
