WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL ANNOUNCES CLINICAL AFFILIATION WITH AIRPORT MEDICAL OFFICES

Mineola, New York – Winthrop-University Hospital has signed a clinical affiliation agreement with Airport Medical Offices (AMO) – a comprehensive healthcare facility that provides primary and urgent care as well as occupational health services to the John F. Kennedy (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and LaGuardia Airport communities. The new partnership enhances service offerings at AMO by providing patients with access to Winthrop’s world-class specialty care services in orthopaedics, cardiology, pulmonary and sleep medicine, bariatrics and general surgery, delivered by a team of experts from Winthrop.

“Winthrop-University Hospital is pleased to partner with Airport Medical Offices to bring a comprehensive array of specialty care services to those who work and live near these airport communities,” said Garry Schwall, Chief Operating Officer at Winthrop-University Hospital.

Airport Medical Offices provide a full range of healthcare services including all aspects of occupational health and medical treatment for accidents, injuries and illnesses in the workplace; primary care, internal medicine, family practice and urgent care. In addition, AMO provides orthopedics, pain management, physical therapy, rehabilitation and laboratory services, electrocardiogram (EKG) and pulmonary function testing, immunizations and x-ray imaging technology to provide patients with fast and accurate assessments in one convenient location. Hearing and vision services as well as all aspects of corporate healthcare services including drug and alcohol testing services are also available at the AMO.

“The AMO affiliation with Winthrop-University Hospital provides our patients with access to the highest levels of sub-specialty care available and is in line with the AMO mission to provide the timely healthcare that our patients need, coupled with the convenience they want. We have the best physicians practicing in quality facilities who deliver the compassionate care our patients deserve,” said Thomas D. Kelliher, Esq., Chief Executive Officer of Airport Medical Offices.

Through this new affiliation, AMO patients will have seamless access to a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services at Winthrop ranging from the latest radiology imaging techniques such as MRI, CT, PET scans and fully digital breast imaging services to comprehensive educational programs at the Diabetes Education Center. Winthrop also offers an extensive range of services in neurosciences, dialysis, cancer care and more. In all of these specialties, AMO patients will receive the same first-class treatment and care that the Winthrop community has come to know and rely upon.

AMO is the primary provider of medical care for many airlines and agencies including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Department of Homeland Security which includes U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and Transportation Security Administration at both airports, as well as for the many food service and cargo companies who interface with airport operations. In addition, AMO provides members of the Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Transportation physical exams and requisite monitoring. The AMO also provides medical care to the residential communities contiguous with each airport.
