WINTHROP AND MINEOLA FIRE DEPARTMENT OFFER INFORMATIVE HEALTH SERIES FOR FIREFIGHTERS

Mineola, NY – Winthrop-University Hospital and the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department have joined forces to initiate a series of health-related lectures for officers and members of the Department. On March 4, Kevin Marzo, MD, Chief of the Division of Cardiology at Winthrop, presented “Firefighters’ Killer – Heart Disease: Tips on How to Save Your Life.” Dr. Marzo discussed the importance of weight management, fitness and healthy eating habits in improving heart health.On April 8, Michael Weinstein, MD, Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Winthrop, will present a lecture on the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, including snoring, sleep apnea, narcolepsy and insomnia. “Winthrop is pleased to have the opportunity to partner with this vital group of fire department volunteers; whatever we can do to promote wellness and potentially save just one life is a priceless reward and time well spent,” said John P.
